A true-blue Singaporean
I have no complains about the weather or rules.
The pace of this beloved city is
in my blood.
So adjusted, once i touched down,
its as though i had not left at all.
Many things, i realise, don't change.
The arrival immigration has some rows
shouting
"Holding Singapore passports."And,
as i read the flashing words on the screen below that,
i smiled.
"Welcome Home."
Many of my friends contemplate the idea of being a PR in another country.
Not me.
Maybe i am rigid,
but i am not a holder of "Home is where your heart is."
Home, to me,
is a physical place with my family, and my much-cherished friends.
Yes, internet and phone do make the world closer,
it makes it easier to get in touch.
But, how can these Ever replace
seeing and
doing things for the people you love?
Going away has made me cherish my family more.
And to appreciate everything that Singapore has,
that other places simply don't.
I come home to realise that my parents will age with time.
Perhaps, being the idealistic me, i had forgotten that people would age.
This time round, the difference is so jarring.
It is really saddening to realise that everytime i come back,
i see my parents age more than before.
I see how sacrificial they are to provide for the family,
and i was reminded of two things,
gratefulnessand what Jesus says, that "if you being evil are willing to give to your children,
how much more would your Heavenly Father give to you?"
My parents have shown me one thing through their very sacrificial and loving actions..
With love, comes sacrifice.

My answer: Your dream.

A great man, Martin Luther King holding a speech on 28 August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.
Since that fateful day, it started the ball rolling for equal rights for the Blacks. He is, till this day, still seen as a Great, great man. His speech on that 28 August 1963 literally changes history, because
He has a dream.Quoted from his speech:
''
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today!I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."²
This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with."
To me,
A life without a dream, is like a fish living outside of water
-suffocating and wearisome.
Every single day seems like a time to
just get by.Is there meaning in that kind of life?
It is one thing to be alive,
another thing to have
life in living. Many people i know are a living dead.
I think this is why God said that "without a vision, man
will perish."
Today, i have a dream - to impact the generations ahead.
Which is why i choose to want to teach.
I have another dream - to go to Canada to study.
And, this dream is coming to pass now...
Thank God for that! :)
(more details to come in due time.)
I realise that God did not give us the power
to just dream dreams.Everyone can do that.
Dreaming, is, easy.
But, would you take that extra step to
make things happen?Like what Pastor always say,
"Don't just talk the talk,
walk the walk."

My first major
panic attack. 11.30pm the night before the paper...
struck me hard and down i went.
To my knees and start to pray.
Never did i feel such intensity
of anxiety, apprehension and
fear.Yet, His voice kept assuring me
relax, candy... Its going to be alright.
Its going to be alright. Its going to be alright.
I am in control.Woke up many many times in the night
frightened by the "what-ifs"
anxious of the "have i missed this part/that.."
extremely pressured by my own expectations,
and every other person's expectation of me,
playing a game of risk.
Despite the little sleep i got,
He, the giver of strength, gave me strength.
He, the giver of blessing, blessed me abundantly.
He, my guidance, guided me
through it all. True enough, the parts He guided me to study came out flat on the examination scripts.
And once again, what more can i offer to Him except
praises and more praises,
thanks after thanks after thanks. :)

The past 11 days doing the book, "Purpose Driven Life" with Jan (despite the miles apart), had been
amazing!!There are certain issues that the author brought up that i knew.. but forgotten. Things like the
true meaning of worship. That its not just a sing-along, but a lifestyle. That,
true worship is
bringing God pleasure and it only
"happens when you give yourself completely to God."In the midst of preparation of my exams, this whole journey has been so rewarding and encouraging.. because i am learning more and more of Him as He reveals more of Himself everyday! :) N His presence is getting me hooked! Ha..
More adventures to come as i embark on this journey for
29 more days! =)

When all else fails, after the countless times of prayers...
Flee from it.
