How to stay sound, and not asleep

I came across a wise and successful lady who gave 3 pieces of advice.

As I approach my last semester in undergrad, I acknowledge that there are a few options for my next step. I daresay graduation is the pivotal point where most would feel most anxious about. For the longest time, we've always known the next natural step because the structure is mapped out by our government and parents.

I feel like I'd even escaped this thinking process by accepting the Honours program.

Now, as I am very near to the finish line, there are undoubtedly many concerned people who have been asking about my future plans. Which, I would always reply with an indefinite answer by stating my 4 options:
a) Continue studying to get a PhD
b) Go into teaching/lecturing
c) Editorial/Journalism
d) Advertising

The concerns of course forced me to think, pray and toy with the different options.

I realise that if a job is just a job, you will always be unsound and asleep.

The key thing now is to find out what keeps me sound, and not sleep.

"Thinking ahead. Boundaries are nothing."

That is the slogan of an university.

I shifted my seat at work this week. Not just across departments, but a totally new environment at a different floor. This means new faces, new colleagues. Although strangely, I'm still doing the same thing I was the week before.

(It was just a shift of convenience so that I can finally have my "own palace," in my leader's words.)

According to a previous Psych unit, boundaries are social constructs when people seek to find an identity by means of differentiating themselves from the rest.

So to me, to place me from Editorial amongst Marketing officers is a transgression of boundaries. I was expecting some form of resistance, but strangely received really positive acceptance. New colleagues responded with interest at a new face and I of course responded in kind.

Cheers to His favour!

I am enjoying my solitary Palace!

You have always been one of my most-avid supporters. Whichever decisions I made, whichever path I've chosen, you have never ever judged me or criticized me. You have always said that you will constantly be there for me, that you trust in my decisions and would support me all the way.

Now, I stand fully supportive of you too.

You've found your happiness and I am really really happy for you - both of you.

Patience has bear a beautiful fruit.
Life will be even more beautiful from now on.

Its the end of the work week and I've completed all my tasks at hand, so I'm just legally browsing. Thus, I come across an intriguing quote:

"Never ever ever take advice from somebody else."
-somebody else

I didn't know whether to take this quote as a form of arrogance or wisdom.

Thinking that your own limited knowledge will suffice is pride.

But hiding behind what other advices is irresponsibility in the least;
cowardice at the most extreme.

I'm tempted to say, "One life, live it." Don't hide behind someone else's skirt. Then again, we live in a community and People are an important aspect of our lives. So, I've decided not to state a resolution to this complexity. Cos I won't want to be that 'somebody else' who should give you advice on this. ;) Think it up!

Bad habits die hard. Sometimes, it requires real huge force to pull it apart.

I think I tend to read too much between-the-lines.
I then get baffled, affected and disturbed.

I think what is unsaid can sometimes be more powerful than what is said.
(Then why do I then ponder about why they remain unsaid?)

I think its high time to outgrow such second-reading mind games.

I haven't seen perfection in a long time.

Its amazing that man-made things often fall short of perfection.

Only things held and made by Him are perfect.

Arnold Glasglow says, "The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not smashing it."

It is always easier to smash things, based on the simple principle that it is always easier to destroy than create.

Creating something beautiful requires time, patience and hope. Sounds really easy but its actually easier to forgo the process, take things into your own hands and delve straight into it.

Ever eaten something from a pre-mix? It can even taste remotely similar to the authentic, but it can never beat what was made entirely from scratch.

Cutting short of the time and process can only give you a second-best.

In a world where efficiency and cutting-down-time are valued and prized, patience becomes a fruit that is often neglected. It can even be thought of as a folly.

I think patience needs a lot of faith.
Faith that you will really really get what you've been waiting for, after the long wait.
Thus, a lack of patience can even be equated to a lack of faith.

While some things are easier to do, it may not be the better thing to do.

Its funny how time seems to zoom by, especially when one is having a really productively intriguing time.

An hour suddenly seems like minutes and time just seem too short.

I hate to say goodbyes - whether over the phone or at the end of a meeting.

Let's end with a "See you later."
